Pompey

Pompey is a Montreal-based indie artist known for introspective and tender songs like "I'm Scared," "Really Really Really Big Sweater," and "Social Anxiety." The project is led by Alex, who has carried the nickname Pompey since high school, and often collaborates closely with their musical partner Thanya Iyer. Pompey’s music often reflects personal experiences and relationships, weaving intimate lyrics with gentle melodies that have made them a distinct presence in the Canadian music scene since around 2015.

Pompey started playing music around their teenage years, originally picking up bass, and found songwriting a vital way to connect with themselves and others. Their debut performance as Pompey was a heartfelt solo set in a close-knit Montreal venue, setting the tone for the emotional and candid style they continue to develop. Over time, Pompey has evolved from a solo act to sometimes performing as a duo with Iyer, creating warm and relatable indie music known for its vulnerability and charm.
