Daytimers is a vibrant British South Asian collective founded in 2020 by Provhat Rahman and Sherwyn Appadu, known as King Monday, aiming to showcase and empower creative talents from the South Asian diaspora. Taking their name from the daytime parties of the 80s and 90s where British Asians gathered to dance to bhangra, garage, and jungle music, the collective brings together DJs, producers, and creatives to celebrate cultural roots through club music. They build on the legacy of those seminal South Asian daytimer events with a fresh, inclusive approach that mixes heritage music with global club styles.
In 2025, Daytimers announced their debut album *Alterations*—a collaborative project featuring 10 tracks that reimagine classic South Asian music through the lens of various contemporary club genres such as jungle, garage, and baile funk. The album includes contributions from artists across the global South Asian diaspora and uniquely grants them access to sample Sony Music India’s classic catalogue, bridging tradition and modern dancefloor culture. The collective also hosts residencies and events, helping to expand the South Asian club scene in the UK and beyond.
