Capgun Coup

Capgun Coup was a delightfully scrappy indie rock outfit hailing from Omaha, Nebraska, part of the city's fertile DIY scene that birthed acts like Bright Eyes and Cursive. Active in the late 2000s/early 2010s, they served up a ramshackle blend of garage rock, punk energy, and darkly humorous lyrics delivered with carnival-barker intensity. Their 2008 album *Mauldin* (not "Maudlin") became a cult favorite for its lo-fi charm and oddball storytelling, followed by the equally unhinged *Brought to You by Nebraskafish* in 2010. Known for chaotic live shows and a penchant for theatricality, they dissolved around 2012 but left behind a small, weird catalog that still charms fans of Nebraska's grittier musical underbelly.
