Agua de Annique

Agua de Annique was a musical project that bloomed from the creative vision of Dutch singer-songwriter and pianist Anneke van Giersbergen, widely recognized for her ethereal vocal work with the band The Gathering. Formed in 2007, Agua de Annique served as van Giersbergen's first solo foray after her departure from The Gathering, showcasing her versatility and a more personal approach to her music. The name reflects a blend of her own influence (nicknamed "Annique") with a fluid, organic musical style symbolized by "Agua," the Spanish word for water.

The band's debut album, "Air," released in 2007, introduced listeners to a captivating mix of alternative rock, ambient, and acoustic elements, underscored by Anneke's hauntingly beautiful voice. This was quickly followed by "Pure Air" and "In Your Room," in 2009, which further explored diverse musical territories, featuring intimate songwriting and a variety of guest musicians that contributed to the lush soundscapes. The band's live dynamic and Anneke's engaging stage presence were captured in the 2010 release "Live In Europe," offering a glimpse into the emotional live performances that solidified Agua de Annique's place in the hearts of fans around the globe. Despite van Giersbergen's subsequent return to a solo career under her name, the intimate and inventive music of Agua de Annique continues to resonate with audiences, a testament to her enduring artistry.
