Jeff Tweedy is an American singer, songwriter, and musician best known as the frontman of the influential alternative rock band Wilco. Born on August 25, 1967, in Belleville, Illinois, Tweedy began his musical career in high school with the band The Plebes, which later transformed into Uncle Tupelo, an outfit that blended country, punk, and folk influences and became pioneers in the alternative country movement. After Uncle Tupelo's breakup in 1994, Tweedy formed Wilco, which has since been at the forefront of the indie rock and alternative music scenes, frequently experimenting with styles and breaking new ground with each album release.
Beyond Wilco, Jeff Tweedy has also been prolific as a solo artist, establishing a body of work marked by introspective lyricism and an expansion of his creative reach.
