El Hadj Djeli Sory Kouyate is a master of the balafon, a traditional West African instrument. Born in Guinea in 1949, Kouyate comes from a long line of griots, or traditional musicians and storytellers. He began playing the balafon at a young age and quickly became known for his virtuosic skills. Kouyate has performed all over the world, sharing the rich musical traditions of his homeland. His recordings, such as "Les percussions de Guinée, vol. 2" and the "Guinée: anthologie du balafon mandingue" series, showcase his incredible talent and the beauty of traditional Guinean music.
