Voci Nobili

Voci Nobili is a Norwegian women's choir founded in 1989 by conductor Maria Gamborg Helbekkmo. The choir consists of about 25 female singers, mostly students from Bergen University College or the University of Bergen, who are selected through auditions. Despite none of them being professional musicians, they dedicate an impressive amount of time to rehearsals and performances, averaging around 500 hours annually. Voci Nobili has gained international recognition for its exceptional vocal ensemble and has won numerous national and international choral competitions. Their repertoire spans classical music, including works by composers like Bach, Grieg, and Britten, as well as contemporary pieces and folk songs.

Their discography includes albums like "Kontraster," which features a mix of church music and jazz, and "Benjamin Britten and John Rutter," showcasing works by these renowned British composers. Another notable album is "Grieg - Nystedt," focusing on Norwegian music with an emphasis on Edvard Grieg and Knut Nystedt. Under Maria Gamborg Helbekkmo's direction, Voci Nobili has maintained a high standard despite frequent changes in membership, earning them several prestigious awards and international acclaim.
