Mathias Friis-Hansen

Mathias Friis-Hansen is a Danish percussionist and composer, born in 1977. He trained at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen and later at the Royal College of Music in London. His musical career has been marked by diverse collaborations, including his work with the Gustav Mahler Jugend Orchester and his participation in the founding of the PACE Percussion Trio in 2000. The trio is known for its innovative approach to percussion music, often incorporating theatrical elements into their performances. Mathias Friis-Hansen has also been involved with other ensembles, such as Ekkozone and Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen, further highlighting his versatility in the music scene.

In addition to his ensemble work, Mathias Friis-Hansen has explored composition, contributing music to several notable projects. For instance, he composed music for the Danish Dance Theatre's productions, including "Labyrint" and "Enigma," which were later released on CD.
