Moscow Soloists

The Moscow Soloists is an esteemed chamber ensemble, revered for its expertise in interpreting classical music. The group was founded in 1992 by acclaimed violist and conductor Yuri Bashmet. Bashmet, a distinguished musician in his own right, sought to gather a talented roster of string players, culminating in an ensemble that quickly gained international recognition for their exquisite performances. Composed of top graduates from the Moscow Conservatory, the Moscow Soloists have established themselves with a repertoire ranging from Baroque to contemporary works, showcasing their versatility and profound musical sensitivity.

The ensemble's discography reflects their dedication to both the core classics and more adventurous compositions. Notable releases include their renditions of Tchaikovsky's "Serenade for Strings," Grieg's "Holberg Suite," and Mozart's "Eine kleine Nachtmusik," all of which demonstrate their affinity for vibrant and passionate interpretations. Their commitment to exploring a wide spectrum of music is further exemplified by their recordings of Bach's Keyboard Concerto BWV 1052 and Shostakovich's Piano Concerto No. 1, testifying to their ability to handle complex works with finesse. Moreover, their live performances, such as the Schnittke "Concerto for Three, String Trio & Minuet," capture the dynamism and engagement of the Moscow Soloists with their audience, cementing their stature as premier interpreters of chamber music on the international stage.
