Carmelo Erdozáin

Carmelo Erdozáin is a renowned Spanish priest and musician born on January 3, 1939, in Aibar, Navarra. He began studying music from a young age, initially learning solfeo and piano under the guidance of composer Manuel Zoco. Erdozáin pursued his musical education at the Conservatorio Superior Pablo Sarasate in Pamplona, where he studied organ and composition, and later at the Pontificio Instituto de Música Sacra in Rome, specializing in Gregorian chant and musicology.

As a prolific composer, Carmelo Erdozáin has created over 400 religious songs, making him one of the most notable figures in Spanish religious music. His works often blend soothing melodies with heart-touching lyrics, frequently focusing on themes of faith and spirituality. He has released numerous albums and has been involved in various musical projects, including being the director of Ediciones Música-Liturgia-Oración (EMLO). Additionally, he has been a prominent figure in liturgical music workshops across Spain, Puerto Rico, and the U.S..
