Hothouse Flowers

Hothouse Flowers is an Irish rock group that combines traditional Irish folk with soulful rock to create a distinct and vibrant sound. They first emerged in the mid-1980s, with the band's core members consisting of Liam Ó Maonlaí (vocals and keyboards), Fiachna Ó Braonáin (guitar), and Peter O'Toole (bass), though they have worked with various other musicians over the years. Their passionate performances and unique blend of genres quickly garnered a devoted fan base, both in Ireland and internationally.

The band's debut album, "People," released in 1988, received critical acclaim and became the most successful debut album in Irish history at that time. Known for their energetic live performances, Hothouse Flowers continued to flourish throughout the late '80s and '90s with albums such as "Home" and "Songs from the Rain." Even though commercial success has ebbed and flowed over the years, the band has maintained a loyal following. Their more recent projects included "Into Your Heart" (2004), which highlighted their enduring talent for crafting soul-stirring music. Although the frequency of their releases has slowed, Hothouse Flowers has continued to captivate audiences in concert and through collaborations, such as those with Dutch presenter Jan Douwe Kroeske's 2 Meter Sessions, showcasing their lasting vitality and creative spirit.
