Ba'Ponga, whose real name is Franck Stéphane Dibault, is a pioneering rapper and producer from Gabon. Born in 1976 in Libreville, he began his career on the underground scene before gaining national recognition as the lead vocalist of the hip-hop group Raaboon in 1999. After launching his solo career in 2002, Ba'Ponga released his debut album, *L'Animal*, in 2004, which was a critical success, earning him the Kora Award for Discovery of the Year. Over the years, he has built a strong discography with notable albums like *Karnivor* (2007), *Or'phelin d'art mur* (2013), and more recently, *Terre nouvelle* in 2022.
Ba'Ponga has been a key figure in the Gabonese hip-hop movement, having also founded his own label, Negratitude. His contributions have been recognized further with an MTV Africa Award in 2010. Through his music, he continues to evolve and release compelling singles such as *T'emmener loin d'ici* and *Le gaboma*, showcasing his enduring influence on the African hip-hop scene.
