Gai Saber

Gai Saber is an Italian folk group that originated in 1992 under the name Kalenda Maia, adopting their current name in 1996. They are deeply rooted in the musical and dance traditions of Italian Occitania, drawing inspiration from the medieval Occitan poetic academy known as "Gai Saber," which was part of the influential troubadour culture. The band combines traditional Occitan instruments like the ghironda and piva with modern elements such as guitars, keyboards, and sequencers. Their discography includes albums like "Troubard R'ÒC," "Esprit de Frontiera," "Electroch'Òc," and "La Fabrica Occitana," showcasing a blend of traditional and electronic sounds.

The group's members include Chiara Bosonetto, Maurizio Giraudo, Maurizia Giordanengo, Paolo Brizio, Elena Giordanengo, and others. Their music often reflects a fusion of traditional Occitan melodies with contemporary electronic styles, such as drum & bass and trip-hop, as seen in albums like "Electroch'Òc." Gai Saber has gained recognition for their unique sound, which has been well-received both domestically and internationally.
