Niboowin is a screamo band with influences from punk, black metal, and post-rock. The band's name is derived from the Ojibwe word for "death," reflecting a strong connection to Indigenous culture. Formed in 2016, Niboowin emerged from the remnants of the Michigan-based band Old Soul. The group's history involves members from Michigan and Sweden, with Nick handling guitar and backing vocals, and Dani contributing vocals since late 2018. Over time, the band has evolved with various lineup changes, including the addition of Lowell from Frail Body on bass. Their music is characterized by intense energy and passion, as evident in their albums like "Breathing" and "Giving In." These releases showcase a blend of furious blastbeats, aggressive vocals, and a mix of hardcore and blackened riffs.
