Yu Xunfa, born on January 8, 1946, in Shanghai, was a renowned Chinese flute player. He is best known for inventing the koudi, a small bamboo flute, and for his mastery of the dizi, a traditional Chinese flute. Yu was a first-class player of the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra and held various prestigious positions, including being a member of the Chinese Musicians Association and director of the performing arts of the Shanghai Musicians Association. He toured extensively across five continents, performing in over 30 countries and collaborating with musicians from diverse backgrounds. His music career spanned several decades, during which he recorded numerous albums, including "Lake View on a Moonlit Autumn Night" and "Master of Chinese Traditional Music: Di Flute Perform Fish Xunfa." Yu Xunfa passed away on January 21, 2006, at the age of 60 due to liver cancer.
