**Cromok**, formed in 1987, is a Malaysian thrash metal band that has carved a significant niche in the local rock scene. The original lineup consisted of Shamsudin "Sam" Ali, Khairul Anuar "Karl" Shariff, and Tarmizi Mokhtar, who were students at the University of Wollongong in Australia. Cromok's sound, heavily influenced by iconic thrash metal bands like Exodus and Testament, quickly gained traction in Australia, leading to their debut album, *Image of Purity*, in 1990. They became well-known for their energetic performances and powerful tracks like “Misty” and “Another You,” which helped solidify their status as pioneers of Malaysian metal.

Over the years, Cromok has experienced both triumphs and tragedies, including the untimely deaths of several members like founding singer Din and drummer Miji. Despite these challenges, the band has maintained a loyal fanbase, affectionately known as "Cromers," and continues to evolve musically. With several albums to their name, including *Mean, Meaner, Meanest* and *Deafening Silence*, they remain a vital part of Malaysia's music landscape, showcasing their resilience and dedication to their craft.
