ISIS

ISIS was an American post-metal band formed in Boston, Massachusetts in 1997 by guitarist and vocalist Aaron Turner, who was joined by guitarist Michael Gallagher, bassist Jeff Caxide, drummer Aaron Harris, and keyboardist Bryant Clifford Meyer. The band, commonly categorized in the genres of post-metal and atmospheric sludge, garnered critical acclaim for their integration of heavy metal severity with ambient soundscapes, helping to craft and hone the post-metal subgenre alongside peers like Neurosis and later, Cult of Luna.

Throughout their career, ISIS released a series of albums and EPs characterized by dense, textured soundscapes punctuated by moments of brutal intensity and tranquil introspection. Their powerful releases, such as "Celestial," "Panopticon," and "In the Absence of Truth," redefined progressive metal dynamics and have left a lasting impact on the genre. While their final studio album, "Wavering Radiant" (2009), showcased the band's maturity in blending melody with their signature layered aggression, it also became their swan song as ISIS decided to disband in 2010. Post-breakup, they released several live albums like "Live VI - 11/16/2007" and compilations like "Temporal," providing fans with a comprehensive journey through the live iterations of their sophisticated sonic architecture and a chance to revisit the band's celebrated musical legacy.
