Johann Abraham Peter Schulz was a German composer, conductor, and music theorist born in Lüneburg, Germany, in 1747. He is best known for his contributions to the development of German Singspiel, a form of musical theater that combines spoken dialogue with singing. Schulz's Singspiels were often based on popular folk tales and featured simple, catchy melodies that appealed to a wide audience. He also composed numerous lieder, choral works, and instrumental pieces. Schulz died in Schwedt, Germany, in 1800.
