Pepe Céspedes, born René Ysel Céspedes Duarte on March 31, 1966, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, is a renowned musician and composer best known as the bassist and a key member of the influential Argentine rock band Bersuit Vergarabat. Growing up in the Barracas neighborhood with Paraguayan roots, he began his musical journey early and eventually joined Bersuit Vergarabat in 1989, contributing not only as a bassist but also playing guitar, guitarrón, ukulele, and sometimes taking on vocal duties. Céspedes co-wrote many of the band's hits, including "A los Tambores," "Vuelos," and "Sin Cerebro," helping shape their unique rock sound infused with social and cultural commentary.
Throughout his career, Pepe Céspedes and Bersuit Vergarabat achieved critical and popular acclaim, winning prestigious awards such as the Premio Gardel de Oro in 2005 for the album *La Argentinidad al Palo* and the Konex Award for their artistic contributions.
