Johnny Yim is a Hong Kong-based pianist, composer, arranger, and producer. Born on August 12, 1977, he comes from a family with a strong musical background, with one parent being a musician and the other a dance choreographer. Yim began learning piano at the age of six and later pursued a major in Mathematics at York University in Canada. Despite not formally studying music, his passion led him to self-study and eventually embark on a successful music career. In 2004, he won the 16th C.A.S.H. Songwriting Quest, which marked the beginning of his professional journey. Since then, he has worked with numerous prominent artists, including Alan Tam, Hins Cheung, and Gigi Leung. Yim is also known for founding the Gsus Music Ministry in 2017, dedicated to promoting Cantonese Christian music.
In recent years, Johnny Yim has continued to be active in the music industry, with a focus on Christian music. His recent releases include titles such as "救贖的聲音敬拜音樂佈道會 2024 (香港站)" and "救贖的聲音," reflecting his commitment to his faith through music. Additionally, Yim has served as the music director for TVB's singing competition "Stars Academy" from 2021 to 2022, further solidifying his influence in the Hong Kong music scene.
