Hans Swarowsky was an Austrian conductor and composer who lived from 1899 to 1975. He was known for his interpretations of the works of Gustav Mahler and Richard Strauss, and he also conducted many premieres of contemporary music. Swarowsky was a gifted teacher, and he taught at the Vienna Academy of Music and the Salzburg Mozarteum. He also founded the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, which he conducted for many years.
