Moritz Von Oswald Trio

The Moritz von Oswald Trio is an experimental electronic jazz project led by the influential German musician and producer Moritz von Oswald. Recognized for being a key figure in the development of dub techno alongside Mark Ernestus with their projects Basic Channel, Maurizio, and Rhythm & Sound, Oswald formed this project to explore the intersection of electronic music and jazz improvisation.

The trio initially consisted of Moritz von Oswald on electronics, Max Loderbauer on synthesizers, and Sasu Ripatti, also known as Vladislav Delay, on drums and percussion. Their music is noted for its rich, textural soundscapes that meld the precision of programmed electronic repeats with live, organic improvisation, blurring the lines between the acoustic and the electronic. Albums such as "Vertical Ascent" and "Horizontal Structures" showcase the group's intricate explorations and their willingness to push musical boundaries. With each release, like "Sounding Lines" and their 2020 album "Dissent", the Moritz von Oswald Trio further solidifies their standing as avant-garde architects of contemporary electronic and jazz music fusion.
