Iron Spell

Iron Spell is a heavy metal band hailing from Santiago, Chile, formed in 2013 by drummer and composer Felipe Carvajal, also known as FC Steelhammer. The band started as a passion project paying tribute to the golden age of metal, drawing inspiration from classic acts like King Diamond, Black Sabbath, KISS, Alice Cooper, Twisted Sister, and W.A.S.P.. Instead of a full-length debut, Iron Spell initially released the four-track EP *Heavy Metal Witchcraft*—quickly gaining underground buzz and catching the attention of European label Dying Victims Productions, which released it on cassette, vinyl, and CD.

Despite early lineup changes, Iron Spell persevered, making their live debut in March 2014 and releasing their first full album, *Electric Conjuring*, in 2016, which even featured a guest appearance by Judas Priest’s Richie Faulkner. The band’s current lineup includes Carlos “Merciless K.co” Espinoza on vocals, Fire Jack (Juan Carlos Jara), Raven (Roberto Vargas) on guitars, Ivlock (Eduardo Pizarro) on bass, and Steelhammer on drums. Their latest album, *From the Grave* (2025), delivers a no-nonsense blend of classic NWOBHM riffs, dual-guitar harmonies, and high-energy, sometimes theatrical vocals, channeling the spirit of early Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and Mercyful Fate. While their output has been sporadic, Iron Spell remains a spirited torchbearer for traditional heavy metal in South America.
