Dafnis Prieto is a Cuban-American drummer, composer, and bandleader known for his innovative and genre-bending music. Born in Santa Clara, Cuba, in 1974, Prieto began playing drums at the age of five and quickly established himself as a prodigious talent. He studied at the prestigious Escuela Nacional de Arte in Havana and later moved to the United States, where he has become a leading figure in the jazz and Latin music scenes. Prieto's music draws inspiration from a wide range of sources, including Afro-Cuban rhythms, jazz improvisation, and classical music. He has collaborated with a diverse array of artists, including Wynton Marsalis, Chucho Valdés, and John Patitucci.
