The Mississippi Mass Choir is an American gospel choir based in Jackson, Mississippi. Formed in 1988 by Frank D. Williams, a member of The Jackson Southernaires and an executive at Malaco Records, the choir aimed to showcase the rich gospel heritage of Mississippi. Williams brought together over 100 talented singers from across the state after open auditions. The choir's debut album, recorded live at the Jackson Municipal Auditorium in 1988, topped the *Billboard* Gospel Chart for 45 weeks, setting a record for consecutive weeks on the chart. Their subsequent albums, such as *God Gets the Glory* and *It Remains to Be Seen*, also reached the top of the charts, with the latter staying at No. 1 for a record 52 weeks.
Over the years, the Mississippi Mass Choir has continued to thrive, releasing numerous albums and touring internationally. Despite the passing of Frank Williams in 1993, the choir has maintained its momentum under the leadership of musical director David R. Curry and executive director Jerry Mannery. They have won numerous awards, including Stellar, Dove, and Grammy nominations, and have been inducted into the Mississippi Musicians Hall of Fame. Their recent releases include albums like *Declaration of Dependence* and *Then Sings My Soul*, showcasing their enduring commitment to traditional gospel music.
