United Waters

**United Waters** is the experimental solo project of Brooklyn-based musician Brian Sokel, known for his previous work with noise-rock outfit Parts & Labor. Blurring the lines between post-punk, ambient, and avant-garde rock, Sokel crafts atmospheric soundscapes anchored by hypnotic rhythms, brooding vocals, and textured layers of guitars and electronics. Since emerging in the early 2010s, United Waters has evolved from raw, lo-fi beginnings into a more refined but still unpredictable exploration of tension and release.

Recent releases like *The Narrows* (2018) and *Coma to Coma* (2020) showcase Sokel’s knack for balancing melody with dissonance, often collaborating with experimental artists like Sarah Lipstate (Noveller) and Ben Greenberg (Uniform). Tracks from *Sunburner* (2015) and *Your First Ever River* (2012) remain staples in their live sets, which are celebrated for their visceral, immersive energy.
