Descend

Descend is a progressive death metal band from Stockholm, Sweden, formed in 2003 by guitarist Andreas Lindström. Originally starting out as a thrash metal group, they evolved into a more progressive and melodic death metal style over time. Their sound draws comparisons to bands like Opeth, but they bring their own unique elements, including unexpected touches like female guest vocals and even saxophone interludes, as heard on tracks such as "The Purest One" and "Wallow." Their 2020 album *The Deviant* received praise for its strong songwriting and innovation within the genre, making it one of the standout progressive death metal releases of the year. The band lineup includes Nima L. Farhadian on vocals, Andreas Lindström and Alexander Wijkman on guitars, Raul Vicente on bass, and Emil Nissilä on drums.
