Girls Against Boys

Girls Against Boys is an American post-hardcore band that emerged from the influential Washington, D.C. punk scene and gained wider recognition in the 1990s. The band was formed in 1988, having initially evolved from a side project of the group Soulside, consisting of members Scott McCloud (vocals/guitar), Johnny Temple (bass), Eli Janney (keyboards/bass), and Alexis Fleisig (drums). Known for their distinctive sound that merges gritty, bass-driven melodies with a punk attitude, Girls Against Boys crafted songs that resonated with a sense of urban cool and lyrical bite.

The group arguably reached the peak of their critical acclaim with the release of "Venus Luxure No.1 Baby" in 1993, which showcases their trademark dual-bass approach, and followed that success with albums such as "Cruise Yourself" and "House of GVSB". Over the years, they have maintained a loyal fan base through their consistently energetic performances and the evolved intricacies of records like "Freak*On*Ica" and "You Can't Fight What You Can't See." After a period of less frequent activity, Girls Against Boys marked their return in 2013 with "The Ghost List" EP, reminding fans of their undiminished ability to produce compelling and edgy music. The band's influence stretches across the alternative rock spectrum, having left an indelible mark with their rich discography, including the format-bending "House of GVSB (25th Anniversary Edition)," which ensures their legacy lives on in the annals of alternative rock history.
