Claudi Arimany is a renowned Spanish flutist born in Granollers, Catalonia, in 1955. Initially studying business at ESADE, he picked up the flute as a hobby and was more interested in jazz before deciding to pursue classical music professionally after being inspired by the legendary Jean-Pierre Rampal. Arimany studied under prominent teachers including Josep Maria Ruera, Salvador Gratacós, and later at the Paris Conservatory with great masters such as Alain Marion and Rampal himself. He earned his diploma in Paris in 1982 with top honors.
Widely regarded as one of the finest flutists of his generation, Arimany has performed internationally with prestigious orchestras and alongside illustrious soloists. A direct artistic heir to Jean-Pierre Rampal, he carries forward Rampal’s interpretive style and musical vision. He is also known for reviving lesser-known flute repertoire, notably recording the complete flute music of the Doppler brothers in a 12-CD set. Arimany performs on the iconic W.S. Haynes gold flute once owned by Rampal, further cementing his place in the classical flute tradition. He continues to teach and contribute to flute music while maintaining an active international solo career.
