Skafunderz is a ska-punk band from Debrecen, Hungary, formed in 2001 by three local skateboarders: Jónás Péter (drums), Rácz Tamás (vocals, guitar), and Kiszely Sándor (bass). Initially, they played punk music but soon incorporated ska and reggae elements into their sound after the addition of trombonist Subicz Gábor in 2002. This shift transformed them into Debrecen's first ska-punk band. Over the years, Skafunderz has become a regular performer at major Hungarian music festivals and has also played in Germany and Romania. Their discography includes albums like "Skafunderz" (2004), "A Rém" (2005), "Viva La Senorita" (2007), and "Négy" (2012).
The band's energetic live performances and diverse musical influences have earned them significant recognition. They have shared stages with prominent bands and have been featured on various radio shows, including their own RudyRadio program. Skafunderz's current lineup includes Rácz Tamás, Jónás Péter, Kiszely Sándor, Koi Gergő (trumpet), Ádám Kristóf (trombone), and Csatlós Pál (guitar). Their music often blends ska beats with elements of traditional Hungarian folk, as seen in songs like "Citrusfa" from "Viva La Senorita." Skafunderz continues to be a vibrant part of Hungary's music scene, known for their lively concerts and eclectic sound.
