Chandrani Banerjee

Chandrani Banerjee is a pioneering Indian Bengali singer-songwriter, best known as the lead vocalist and songwriter of the rock/fusion band Krosswindz. Born in Chandannagar, West Bengal, she is recognized as the first Bengali female rock singer. Chandrani is trained in Rabindra Sangeet and folk music, which she skillfully blends into her rock and fusion compositions. She has performed extensively across the Indian subcontinent, the USA, and Europe, showcasing her unique and mellifluous voice. Her work includes collaborations with notable bands like Bhoomi and Moheener Ghoraguli, and she has sung for several films, including the award-winning "Way Back Home" and "Projapoti Biskut," for which she won the Filmfare Award for Best Playback Singer.

Chandrani has received numerous accolades, including two Grassroot Grammy Awards in 2020 for her work with Krosswindz. Her contributions to music have been recognized with the LBF Visionary Award of Excellence in 2009. As a published poet and musician, she continues to inspire audiences with her heartfelt performances and compositions that blend traditional Indian folk elements with modern rock and fusion styles.
