The Blackout

The Blackout was a post-hardcore band that emerged from Merthyr Tydfil, Wales, in 2003. Known for their dynamic stage presence and raucous sound, the band included Sean Smith and Gavin Butler on vocals, Matthew Davies and James Davies on guitars, Rhys Lewis on bass, and Gareth Lawrence on drums. Their music was a compelling combination of punk energy, metal riffs, and melodic choruses, establishing them as a favorite among fans of the genre.

During their career, The Blackout produced a series of impactful releases that left a mark on the UK rock scene. The band's sophomore album, "The Best In Town," released in 2009, garnered them significant attention and accolades. Their energetic anthems and emotionally driven lyrics are exemplified in tracks like "Save Ourselves (The Warning)" and "Children of the Night." However, it was their 2012 album "Start the Party" that epitomised their aim of creating infectious party anthems, crafting an atmosphere that encouraged their fans to let loose and absorb the music. The Blackout announced their split in 2015, leaving behind a legacy of fervent live performances and a dedicated following.
