Hangnail

Hangnail was an American punk rock band from Kenosha, Wisconsin, that formed in the late 1990s. The group swiftly created a buzz in the Christian punk scene with their fervent melodies and introspective lyrics that resonated with a generation searching for identity and meaning. Consisting of members Mike Middleton (lead vocals, bass), Nick Radovanovic (guitar), Matt Wendt (guitar), and Jacob Dosemagen (drums), Hangnail combined elements of punk, pop-punk, and melodic hardcore to craft a sound that was both energetic and accessible.

They released their self-titled debut, "Hangnail," in 1998, setting the stage for their subsequent albums. With their sophomore record "Facing Changes" (2001) and the follow-up "Transparent" (2003), Hangnail achieved critical acclaim within the niche of punk rock and Christian music enthusiasts. Their sound matured with each release, showcasing a band capable of delivering powerful messages wrapped in catchy hooks and fierce guitar riffs. Their last studio album to date, "Transparent," delineated the band’s growth and provided a deeper, more polished sound before they eventually disbanded. However, Hangnail left a lasting impression with their post-breakup releases, "The Acoustic EP" and "Hangnail Live," delivering stripped-down and energetic live renditions of their work, respectively. "Christmas Hymns," a collection of standard festive tunes with the band's unique punk-inflected twist, offered fans a taste of fond nostalgia and showcased Hangnail's versatility as musicians.
