Sigmund Groven

Sigmund Groven is a Norwegian harmonica virtuoso known for his lyrical playing style and versatility across musical genres. Born in 1946 in Heddal, Telemark, Norway, Groven has spent decades establishing himself as one of the foremost classical and folk harmonica players in the world. He studied with legendary harmonica player Tommy Reilly and developed a unique sound that blends classical music, Norwegian folk traditions, and contemporary influences.

Throughout his career, Groven has released numerous albums, including collaborations with orchestras, choirs, and pianists, and he’s composed and arranged a wide range of pieces for harmonica. His music often draws inspiration from the landscapes and cultural heritage of Norway, reflected in works like The Sound of Telemark and Bruremarsj frå Seljord. Whether performing solo or with ensembles, Groven continues to demonstrate the expressive power of the harmonica on the world stage.
