Shalabi Effect

Shalabi Effect is a Montreal-based experimental music group known for their sprawling, psychedelic soundscapes. Blending elements of drone, free improvisation, and krautrock, they create immersive and hypnotic music that often features extended instrumental passages and a heavy emphasis on texture. Formed in the late 1990s, the core members have consistently been Sam Shalabi on guitar and Anthony Seck on drums, often collaborating with a rotating cast of other musicians, including Alexandre St-Onge and Will Eizlini. Their live performances are legendary for their intensity and improvisational nature.

Over their career, Shalabi Effect has released numerous albums and EPs on labels like Constellation and Alien8 Recordings, consistently pushing the boundaries of their sound. They've toured extensively throughout North America and Europe, captivating audiences with their unique and transportive music. While often categorized as psychedelic or experimental rock, their music defies easy categorization, incorporating influences from diverse genres like jazz, electronic music, and Middle Eastern music.
