Downhere
Downhere is a Canadian Christian rock band known for their rich harmonies, thoughtful lyrics, and a musical style that blends alternative rock with worship elements. The band originated in the late 1990s at Briercrest Bible College in Saskatchewan, where founding members Marc Martel and Jason Germain began collaborating musically. The group’s signature sound features the contrasting yet complementary vocal styles of Martel and Germain, setting them apart in the contemporary Christian music scene.
They gained wider recognition after signing with Word Records and releasing their self-titled debut in 2001. Over the years, Downhere released several critically acclaimed albums, including Wide-Eyed and Mystified, Ending Is Beginning, and On the Altar of Love. Their Christmas album, How Many Kings, also became a fan favorite. Known for combining faith-filled messages with artistic integrity, the band has earned numerous awards, including multiple Covenant Awards and a Juno Award. Though they announced a hiatus in 2012, the impact of their music continues to resonate with fans worldwide.
