John Foxx is an English singer, musician, and artist who first rose to prominence as the original lead singer of the new wave band Ultravox in the 1970s. Born Dennis Leigh on September 26, 1948 in Chorley, Lancashire, he adopted the stage name John Foxx and left Ultravox in 1979 to pursue a solo career.
Foxx is best known for his pioneering work in electronic and synthesizer music. His 1980 solo debut album "Metamatic" was an influential release in the synth-pop genre. Throughout his career, Foxx has continued to release experimental electronic music while also working in other artistic fields like graphic design and education. He's collaborated with various artists and released numerous solo albums exploring ambient, electronic, and avant-garde styles.
