The Land of Nod is a space rock/post-rock duo from Cheltenham, England, consisting of guitarist Ant Walker and bass guitarist Dave Battersby. Formed in the mid-1990s, the band's sound often incorporates a drum machine and has been augmented by other musicians, including David Wrench on synthesizer, piano, and cello. Their music is characterized by space rock and post-rock guitar instrumentals. The duo released several albums, including *Translucent* (1999), *Timeless Point* (2000), *Mont Ventoux* (2001), *Inducing the Sleep Sphere* (2002), and *Colli De Pedona* (2003). Their releases often featured on various compilations and split EPs, showcasing their unique blend of atmospheric and instrumental music.
The Land of Nod gained recognition for their thematic releases, such as *Mont Ventoux*, which was inspired by the Tour de France. They also recorded sessions for notable radio shows, including John Peel's BBC Radio 1. The band's last performance was in 2005 at the Cheltenham 'John Peel Night'. Ant Walker is also involved in another project called Pulsar.
