Chorus Cathedralis Aboensis is a Finnish symphonic choir founded in 1982, specializing in large-scale choral works often performed with orchestral accompaniment. Named after Turku Cathedral, the choir includes 60 to 80 skilled amateur singers and has a rich tradition of collaborating with the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra, with whom they have appeared in over 130 concerts. Their repertoire covers key sacred music masterpieces, such as Beethoven’s Mass in C Major, Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem, and Verdi’s Requiem, showcasing their notable versatility and commitment to classical choral traditions. Since 2021, MuM Paavo Hyökki has served as their artistic director, guiding the choir’s artistic development.
The choir also performs regularly in the cathedral’s festive worship services and has joined forces with other Finnish orchestras and international ensembles, maintaining an active presence in both concert halls and religious settings. Their collaborations extend to works by composers like Haydn, Mozart, Mahler, and Poulenc, among others, reflecting a broad and ambitious choral repertoire. Chorus Cathedralis Aboensis’s recordings include prominent projects such as Beethoven's "Mass in C Major & Other Sacred Works," which have earned praise for their warmth and precision under conductors like Leif Segerstam.
