Kurt Böhme

Kurt Böhme (1908–1989) was a German operatic bass known for his powerful voice and commanding stage presence. Born in Dresden, he built a distinguished career performing in many of the world's leading opera houses, particularly excelling in the works of Wagner, Mozart, and Strauss. A noted interpreter of roles such as Baron Ochs in *Der Rosenkavalier* and Osmin in *Die Entführung aus dem Serail*, Böhme was praised for his deep, resonant bass and his ability to bring both humor and authority to his characters. His long and successful career saw him performing extensively in Germany and beyond, leaving behind a rich legacy of recordings that continue to be celebrated by opera lovers.
