Triptykon

Triptykon is a Swiss extreme metal band formed in 2008 by Thomas Gabriel Fischer, following his departure from Celtic Frost, another seminal name in the avant-garde metal scene. Named after a type of altarpiece with three panels, Triptykon reflects Fischer's fascination with dark themes, encompassing elements of doom, black, and gothic metal, with a sonically heavy and brooding atmosphere. The band's lineup includes founding member Fischer, also known as Tom G. Warrior, on vocals and guitars, with various other musicians collaborating both in the studio and during live performances.

Triptykon's debut album, "Eparistera Daimones," was released in 2010 to critical acclaim, continuing the trailblazing mix of sludgy riffs, dark melodies, and avant-garde sensibilities that Fischer’s previous work in Celtic Frost had been known for. This was followed by an EP titled "Shatter" later that same year. Their second full-length album, "Melana Chasmata," which means "black, deep depressions" in Greek, arrived in 2014, delving further into the depths of Fischer’s haunting musical visions. In recent years, the band has shown a willingness to experiment and collaborate, as demonstrated in "Requiem (Live At Roadburn 2019)," where they partnered with the renowned Metropole Orkest to perform and record an orchestral version of a three-part requiem; a long-gestating work that includes parts written during Fischer's time with Celtic Frost. The "Breathing" single, released in 2020, serves as a further testament to the band's enduring legacy within extreme metal's more esoteric fringes.
