Miriam Hanika

Miriam Hanika is a German oboist and singer-songwriter born in 1988 in Lauterbach. She originally performed under the name Miriam Green until December 2020. Trained classically from a young age, she studied oboe intensively at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München, earning her master’s degree in 2016. Alongside her classical career, she developed her songwriting skills, creating music that blends art song, songwriters' pop, and vocal jazz, often featuring her own virtuosic oboe solos and improvisations. Her lyrics explore personal, social, and spiritual themes, performed in both German and English with chamber music arrangements. Since 2019, she has also incorporated the English horn to add unique colors to her sound. Hanika is a member of the Dandelion Quintett, a woodwind quintet that won first prize at the 2019 Bucharest International Music Competition.

Her recent work, including albums like *innenleben* and *Schilflieder*, highlights her poetic and emotionally resonant approach to music, inviting listeners into an introspective inner world. Miriam Hanika’s artistry is marked by a fusion of classical technique and contemporary songwriting, making her a distinctive voice in the German indie pop and chamber music scene.
