Whitecross

Whitecross is an American Christian metal band that formed in 1985 in Waukegan, Illinois, by singer Scott Wenzel and guitarist Rex Carroll. They quickly became known for their blend of heavy metal music with a message of faith, and for Carroll's impressive guitar solos, earning him comparisons to virtuosos like Eddie Van Halen and Randy Rhoads. The band's self-titled debut album, "Whitecross," was released in 1987 and established them as a notable act in the Christian rock scene.

Throughout their career, Whitecross has released numerous albums that showcase their signature sound, a mix of hard-hitting rock and metal riffs with evangelical themes. Albums such as "Hammer And Nail" (1988) and "Triumphant Return" (1989) helped cement them as a formidable force in Christian heavy metal. With songs like "In The Kingdom" and "No Second Chances," they gained a dedicated fanbase and accolades in their genre. Despite significant lineup changes over the years, particularly the departure of guitarist Rex Carroll, the band continued releasing music, including "Nineteen Eighty Seven" in 2005, which was a re-recording of their debut album with updated production. Known for their energetic live performances and their influence within their genre, Whitecross remains an important name in Christian metal history.
