Sanna Vaarni is a renowned Finnish pianist and educator, known for her versatile performances as a soloist, chamber musician, and lied pianist. She has studied at prestigious institutions such as the Sibelius Academy and has been supported by the Wihuri Foundation for her studies in Paris. Vaarni has won several national piano competitions, including the Ilmari Hannikainen Piano Competition and the Helmi Vesa Piano Competition. Her performances have taken her to various countries, including Italy, Estonia, France, Germany, Latvia, and Saudi Arabia. She has also recorded for the Finnish Broadcasting Company (YLE) and has released albums such as "Illustrazioni – 20th Century Italian Piano Music" and "In the Mists (Janáček Piano Works)".
Currently, Sanna Vaarni serves as a Senior Lecturer in Piano and Head of the Piano Department at the Espoo Music Institute in Finland. She regularly gives masterclasses in music institutes and conservatories around the world, including Italy and China. Her recordings showcase a rich palette of touch nuances, particularly evident in her interpretations of composers like Giacinto Scelsi and Nino Rota.
