Soen is a progressive metal supergroup that was formed in 2010 by drummer Martin Lopez, who is best known for his tenure with the Swedish progressive metal giants Opeth, and bassist Steve Di Giorgio, known for his work with Death and Testament. The band's lineup solidified with the addition of vocalist Joel Ekelöf from Willowtree and guitarist Kim Platbarzdi. Their sound, often meticulously crafted, showcases a blend of melodic, progressive metal with introspective, thought-provoking lyrics, often exploring the complexities of the human psyche and societal issues.
