Dario Moreno

Dario Moreno, born David Arugete on April 3, 1921, was a Turkish polyglot singer, an actor, and a composer who found fame and success primarily in the 1950s and early 1960s. With a career steeped in the chanson and Latin music traditions, Moreno was renowned for his charismatic stage presence and rich, melodious voice, which left an indelible mark on the music scene of his time.

Moreno, who was of Sephardic Jewish descent, was a cherished figure in the French music world, where much of his success was concentrated. Songs like "Si tu vas à Rio" and "C'est magnifique" encapsulate the spirited rhythms and vivid imagery that were hallmarks of his style. Moreno was also known for singing in multiple languages including Turkish, French, Italian, Spanish, Greek, and Hebrew, reflecting his diverse cultural background. His remastered tracks continue to bring his classic, vivacious sound to contemporary audiences, preserving the legacy of a performer who brought a unique blend of joy and international flavor to his music. Sadly, Moreno's life was cut short when he passed away on December 1, 1968, but his music remains celebrated all around the Mediterranean and by music enthusiasts who appreciate vintage international pop.
