Playing for Change Band

The Playing for Change Band is the live performance extension of the Playing for Change movement, a multimedia initiative created in 2002 to inspire and connect the world through music. Formed by Mark Johnson and Whitney Kroenke, the band brings together an extraordinary group of musicians from across the globe, many of whom first appeared in the project’s viral "Song Around The World" videos. These performances feature artists from different countries collaborating remotely on popular songs, showcasing the power of music to transcend borders and cultures.

The Playing for Change Band translates that global energy into a powerful live experience. With members hailing from countries like Congo, South Africa, Italy, the U.S., and Cuba, the band performs original songs as well as world-renowned tracks in a style that blends reggae, blues, soul, and world music. Their mission isn’t just to entertain—it’s also about unity, spreading a message of peace and hope as they tour worldwide in support of the Playing for Change Foundation, which helps build music and art schools in underprivileged communities.
