Mottor, known professionally as Motto, is a soca artist and producer from Saint Lucia who has become a leading figure in the Dennery-Soca genre. Born Lashley Winter in 1994 in Vieux Fort, Saint Lucia, Motto is a self-taught musician who initially pursued music as a leisure activity while studying. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Mass Communication with a focus on video production from Barton College in North Carolina and has also earned degrees in Music and Information Technology. Since moving to Brooklyn, New York in 2012, Motto has made a name for himself internationally, particularly with his influential riddims like the Pim Pim Riddim, which have featured major soca artists such as Machel Montano and Bunji Garlin. His vibrant, catchy tracks like "Bend Dong," "Born Whiner," and recent hits such as "Force It" and "Guttah" continue to energize carnival scenes worldwide. Motto also owns the label Team Foxx and is known for helping popularize the Dennery Segment sound, which blends Caribbean soca with Angolan Kuduro rhythms.
