Liva

Liva is a Canadian symphonic power metal and opera band that formed in 1997 in Sherbrooke, Quebec. Known as one of Canada’s pioneers in blending classical music with metal, the band stands out for its unique fusion of heavy metal intensity and classical melodic complexity. The core of Liva’s sound is driven by founding member Pier Carlo Liva, who provides tenor and death vocals, guitars, and electronics, often paired with soprano vocals from Nadine Guertin, as noted on their latest album, "Ecce Mundus." Their discography includes notable releases like "Requiem," "Human Abstract," and "De Insulis," and after a decade-long pause post–"Human Abstract," the band made a comeback in 2023 with "Ecce Mundus," demonstrating a wide stylistic range and top-tier musicianship.

While lineup changes have occurred over the years, Pier Carlo Liva remains the sole original member. Liva’s live and studio performances are celebrated for their dramatic flair and operatic grandeur, making them a standout act in Canada’s symphonic metal scene. Their music is both epic and intricate, appealing to fans of both classical and metal genres.
