Renato Fasano was an Italian conductor and musicologist best known for his work in reviving and recording Baroque and early Classical music, especially by Italian composers. In 1941, he founded the chamber orchestra I Virtuosi di Roma, which became renowned for its historically informed performances of composers like Vivaldi, Pergolesi, and Paisiello. Under Fasano's direction, the ensemble gained international recognition and played a key role in bringing lesser-known operas and instrumental works of the 17th and 18th centuries back into the spotlight. His recordings, many of which remain influential, helped kindle broader public appreciation for Italy’s rich baroque heritage.
